Cat Hospital of Coppell

We offer a full range of services for your cat's needs:

  • "12 Body System" Comprehensive Exam:

Your cat ages 6-7 years for every human year.  A thorough exam last year would therefore be equivalent to 6-7 years ago.  We need to perform a complete exam, nose to tail, each year.  Dr Hague checks the eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, lymphatic system, heart, lungs, musculoskeletal system, abdomen and internal organs, skin, hair coat, and many other things along the way.  Your pet cannot tell us how they feel or where it hurts.  Veterinarians are specially trained to examine and interpret findings in order to make recommendations for your pet's continued health.

  • Nutritional Review and Counseling:

Our pets eat what we give them.  We have full control.  There are so many choices, today, for pet owners so we make our best effort to guide our clients to making the BEST choice.  We will provide guidance regarding your cat's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.  We offer several Science Diet foods, along with the prescription cat foods:  Hill's, Purina, and Royal Canin.

  • Behavorial Review and Counseling:

The behavorial problems we commonly see in cats relate to elimination problems (litter training and so on), aggression, and destructive behaviors.  Despite the independent nature of the feline, we have ways to improve and correct many of these unacceptable behaviors.  Also, a large number of problems are related to hormone stress, so, spaying or neutering helps with many of these issues.

  • Health Maintenance Review and Counseling:

The need for proper heartworm and parasite control is an important issue and cannot be over-looked in the Dallas-Fort Worth climate.  Dental health is probably the most neglected of all health maintenance items.  Cat's can't tell you when they have a tooth ache, and almost all dental disease can be prevented with proper management.

  • Vaccinations:
    • FVRCP (Feline Distemper, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Chlymidia Vaccine).  This yearly vaccine protects cats from many viruses that they are exposed to all their lives.  This combination vaccine contains the four vaccines mentioned above, which can be brought into your home as a result of contact with contaminated environments.  A yearly vaccination is cost effective insurance that your pet will not become ill and require extensive and expensive treatments.
    • FELINE LEUKEMIA VACCINATION. This vaccine protects cats from the number one cat virus in the Metroplex area.  While it is more common in outdoor cats, it is often seen with indoor cats, as well.  Your cat is considered "at risk" for Leukemia if he or she spends ANY time outdoors, supervised or not.  Yearly boosters comprise the best prevention program.
    • RABIES VACCINATION.  Rabies is always fatal (animals AND humans) when contracted!  Since there is no cure, prevention by vaccination is the only solution.  This annual vaccine is extremely important AND requred by law because of the human health concern.

  • Feline AIDS/Feline Leukemia Testing:

This blood test is mandatory for kittens in our pediatric program.  We will periodically screen older cats for these diseases, as well.  This is commonly done if the patient is ill, if the test has never been performed, and if no Feline Leukemia vaccine has ever been given.  Current opinion suggests that these viruses may be harbored in some cats in a "dormant" state that may become active later in life.  Consequently, a multi-cat household is at greater risk, especially when adding new cats to the family,or any cat that spends time outdoors, even under supervision.
